Oregon Football Coach Dan Lanning Secures Contract Extension Through 2030

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning has officially agreed to a contract extension that will keep him in Eugene through the 2030 season, as announced by the university on Friday. According to Yahoo Sports, Lanning’s new deal will be worth nearly $11 million per season. The university also confirmed the finalization of contract extensions for defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi and offensive coordinator Will Stein, both of whom will remain with the program through 2027. These extensions received approval from Oregon’s Board of Trustees.

In a statement, Oregon Athletic Director Rob Mullens praised Lanning for elevating the football program to unprecedented levels. “His relentless commitment to providing a first-class student-athlete experience is evident in the culture he has fostered within his program,” Mullens said. He highlighted Lanning’s dedication to the university, its athletes, and the community, emphasizing Lanning’s role in positioning Oregon to compete for championships consistently.

Since taking the helm three seasons ago, Lanning, 38, has led the Ducks to a remarkable 35-6 record. Last season, Oregon achieved an undefeated status and stood atop the Big Ten standings before being defeated by Ohio State in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals.

In his appreciation statement, Lanning expressed gratitude for the support from Oregon and acknowledged the critical roles of Lupoi and Stein in the program’s success. “The job Will and Tosh do for our program cannot be overstated,” he remarked, noting the growth seen on both sides of the ball due to their leadership.

As the college football landscape evolves, Lanning joins a select group of coaches with salaries exceeding $10 million, furthering Oregon’s commitment to its football program.
