EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. – The No. 74 Rutgers women’s tennis team kicked off their conference play with an exhilarating 4-3 victory against the Oregon Ducks on Friday. This win improved their season record to 7-2 and 1-0 in the Big Ten.
Head coach Hilary Ritchie celebrated the team’s performance, highlighting their dedicated practice leading up to the match, which translated into their on-court confidence. The Scarlet Knights initially took the doubles point, with an impressive 6-1 win from the duo of Karina Jumazhanova and Jackie Lopez, and a 6-3 victory by Mai Nguyen and Naomi Karki, securing the early advantage.
