Oregon State Falls Short Against Pepperdine in WCC Tournament Showdown
LAS VEGAS, Nev. – In a thrilling contest at the Orleans Arena, Oregon State’s comeback fell just short as they lost to Pepperdine 77-73 in the West Coast Conference (WCC) Tournament on Saturday evening.
The Beavers faced an uphill battle in the final minutes, trailing by 11 points with just five minutes remaining. However, a vigorous 8-0 run brought them within three. With only 16 seconds left on the clock, Oregon State found themselves down by two but unable to secure the lead as the clock wound down.
Damarco Minor led the charge for the Beavers with an impressive 20 points, alongside eight rebounds and four assists. Nate Kingz added 18 points and four assists, while Parsa Fallah contributed 16 points, shooting an efficient 6-for-9 from the field, and grabbing five rebounds. Liutauras Lelevicius scored 15 points and recorded seven rebounds before fouling out late in the game. Collectively, Oregon State shot 44% from the field.
The game commenced with Oregon State hitting two early 3-pointers, establishing a 13-7 lead at the first media timeout. The Waves quickly responded, and the first half concluded with the Beavers narrowly leading 40-38. In the second half, OSU jumped ahead with a 7-0 run for a 47-43 advantage, but Pepperdine countered with a strong performance that pushed the Beavers to the brink.
