March 10, 2025 – Oregon

The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) has announced plans to hire more than 200 seasonal rangers and ranger assistants to support the state’s parks during the 2025 season. Recruitment is set to begin immediately and will continue through June, with positions listed on a rolling basis accessible through the agency’s "Work with Us" portal.

Seasonal roles typically span four to nine months, with most employees working from April to September. However, opportunities also exist for those who can start as early as March or extend their contracts into December. These positions are crucial for enhancing visitor experiences and maintaining safe, clean park environments.

Seasonal staff will engage in a variety of responsibilities, including janitorial work, landscape maintenance, visitor education, and overall visitor services. Compensation begins at $19.78 per hour for seasonal assistants and $23.21 for seasonal rangers.

In addition to competitive pay, employees will have access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental insurance for themselves and eligible family members, as well as benefits such as paid sick leave, vacation, personal leave, and 11 paid holidays annually. Students aged 16 and older can also apply, starting at a wage of $19.77 or higher, based on their experience.

OPRD encourages interested individuals to visit stateparks.oregon.gov for more information on current job openings and to begin the application process.
