Ex-Formula 1 team owner and media personality Eddie Jordan has passed away at the age of 76 after battling cancer. Known for his humor, strong opinions, and extravagant dress sense, Jordan ran his own Jordan team in F1 during the 1990s and 2000s. After selling the team in 2005, he became a popular TV pundit. Jordan was undergoing treatment for aggressive bladder and prostate cancer that had spread to his spine and pelvis.
F1 president Stefano Domenicali paid tribute to Jordan as a protagonist of an era of F1 and praised his energy and ability to make people smile. Jordan’s former driver Christian Horner also remembered him fondly, recalling the advice he received from Jordan in 1991. Jordan Grand Prix, which Jordan founded in 1991, won four races before he sold the team in 2005. The team now competes as Aston Martin in F1. Aston Martin team principal Andy Cowell praised Jordan’s lasting legacy in the motorsport community. Jordan also recently acted as the manager for car design great Adrian Newey when he joined Aston Martin last year.
In his final message to listeners of his podcast, Jordan urged everyone to take care of their health and get tested for any concerns. He emphasized the importance of not delaying medical check-ups and looking after one’s body. Jordan’s death has left a hole in the hearts of many, but his charisma, energy, and Irish charm will be remembered through the great memories he leaves behind.
