Cincinnati Men’s Golf Team Improves at Duck Invitational
EUGENE, Ore. — The Cincinnati men’s golf team exhibited significant improvement in their performance at the Duck Invitational, climbing to ninth place after enhancing their score by eight strokes over two rounds. The tournament features a competitive field, showcasing five top-50 teams among 15 participants.
Freshman standout Leo Wessel led the Bearcats with consistent play, shooting a 71 and a 70 to finish the day at 1-under, placing him in a tie for 16th overall. Wessel displayed remarkable accuracy with just three bogeys throughout his rounds, building on his impressive 13th-place finish at last week’s Johnnie-O Championship.
Connor McNeely followed closely behind, currently positioned at 25th after securing an eagle early in his second round on hole No. 13. William McDonald delivered a strong performance in the afternoon, carding a team-best 3-under par 68 after struggling in the morning with a 6-over score. He notably recorded three birdies on the front nine of the second round.
Completing the scoring for Cincinnati were Michael Senn III and Ryan Ford, who are placed at 47th and 64th, respectively. Notably, the Bearcats have shown a pattern of saving their best rounds for last in every tournament thus far, highlighted by their season-low 271 score at the Johnnie-O Championship following a previous round of 288.
With their ongoing progress, the Bearcats look to continue their upward trajectory as the tournament concludes, showcasing their potential against tough competition.
