Jackson Shelstad Will Return to Oregon Ducks, Forgoing NBA Draft

Oregon Ducks’ Jackson Shelstad Commits to Return for Junior Season

Eugene, OR – The Oregon Ducks are set to welcome back an essential piece of their roster as starting guard Jackson Shelstad has confirmed he will return for his junior season after a standout performance in the NCAA Tournament. Shelstad’s decision comes just as teammate Nate Bittle has declared for the 2025 NBA Draft, raising the stakes for the Ducks as they prepare for the upcoming season.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Shelstad is officially signed for his third season with the Ducks, a move that solidifies his status as one of the top returners in the Big Ten. Last season, Shelstad excelled, averaging 13.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game, contributing significantly to the Ducks’ 25-10 record. His leadership on the court was evident, particularly during a thrilling NCAA Tournament run that ended with a narrow loss to Arizona in the Round of 32.

Following that heartbreaking defeat, in which he scored 25 points, Shelstad indicated he was already registered for spring classes, hinting at his intention to remain in Eugene. “Our chemistry has been really great this year,” Shelstad noted, reflecting on the team dynamics and his offseason dedication to improving.

However, the Ducks’ roster is facing significant changes for the next season. While Shelstad returns, key players like Bittle are exploring opportunities in the NBA, and other teammates are considering transfers. Oregon has also secured a commitment from former Texas Longhorn Devon Pryor, indicating a shift as the Ducks look to build a competitive lineup.

As the Ducks gear up for another season under coach Dana Altman, the combination of returning talent and new additions will be crucial in their quest for a deeper NCAA Tournament run.
