Washington Men’s Rowing Team Dominates at Dual Regatta Against Oregon State

VANCOUVER, Wash. – The University of Washington men’s rowing team delivered a stellar performance at Vancouver Lake on Saturday, securing victories in both races during their dual regatta against Oregon State University.

The competition featured two intense events: an eight-oared race and a subsequent four-oared race, with many of the same rowers competing in both. Washington’s "A" crew, primarily composed of rowers from the recent third varsity eight lineup, clinched victory in the eights event, clocking in at 5:41.76. They finished just over three seconds ahead of the UW "B" crew, which comprised the freshman eight, finishing at 5:45.01. The Huskies’ "C" crew followed in third place, leading the way for a competitive race against Oregon State’s squads, which occupied positions four through eight.

The second event saw Washington’s dominance continue in the fours race, where their top two crews finished first and second ahead of Oregon State’s leading entries. The Washington "A" four, led by coxswain Peter Frost, edged out the competition, further solidifying the team’s strong performance.

With the successful regatta behind them, the Huskies will shift their focus to preparing for their next challenge: The renowned Dual against California on April 26. This upcoming event will see the No. 2 ranked Huskies face off against the top-ranked Golden Bears on Montlake Cut, setting the stage for an exhilarating race.

The Washington men’s rowing team is well geared up to build on their momentum as they head into this crucial spring season.
