In light of AARP research revealing that seven in ten Oregonians are or have been family caregivers, Bandana Shrestha, AARP Oregon State Director, highlights the emotional and financial toll caregiving can impose. Recognizing that the responsibilities of caregiving can be overwhelming, AARP is mobilizing support to alleviate some of these burdens.
With an estimated 48 million family caregivers across the nation, AARP encourages those who provide care or support to caregivers to unite and advocate for policy changes aimed at offering relief. The organization is urging lawmakers to implement measures that would help caregivers save time, reduce out-of-pocket expenses, and improve access to crucial support services.
AARP is committed to providing resources designed to assist family caregivers in managing their responsibilities more effectively. These resources include tools for coping with stress, financial guidance, and practical advice for navigating caregiving challenges.
In conjunction with these efforts, AARP Oregon will be hosting the Aging Well Expo on May 7, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts in Beaverton.
