Bend Utility Bills Expected to Rise with Introduction of Transportation Fee Phase 2
Bend, OR – The City Council of Bend has announced an increase in utility bills as it moves forward with Phase 2 of its Transportation Fee, aimed at funding essential road maintenance and improvements. The implementation of Phase 2 is scheduled for July 2025, following the initial phase which began in July 2024 and is anticipated to generate approximately $5 million this fiscal year. The second phase is projected to raise that figure to $10 million annually.
Under the new fee structure, residents of single-family homes will see their monthly surcharge increase from $5.60 to $10.50, while apartment dwellers will experience a rise from $4.15 to $7.75. Non-residential properties will also face adjustments based on their size and type of business, ensuring a comprehensive approach to funding transportation needs.
To provide residents with an opportunity to voice their opinions, a public hearing is scheduled for May 7. Individuals who wish to submit written comments can do so via email at transportationfee@bendoregon.gov. Additionally, the City will host a business-focused informational session on April 24 at 5 p.m. in the Council Chambers, aiming to engage local businesses in the discussion around the transportation fee.
