Oregon Football Recruiting Heats Up with 5-Star Cornerback Announcement
Brandon Arrington, a highly sought-after 5-star cornerback from Mount Miguel High School in Spring Valley, California, is set to announce his college decision on July 5. The 6-foot-3, 175-pound athlete is ranked as the No. 8 overall prospect in the nation and is noted as the top-ranked athlete. After recently visiting Oregon for the Spring Game, Arrington expressed his admiration for the program, stating to On3 Sports, "Everything was perfect."
Arrington’s impressive credentials include a 100-meter dash time of 10.27 seconds and a state championship title in both the 100 and 200 meters, where he set a record with a time of 20.35 seconds. Alongside Oregon, his finalists include powerhouse schools USC, Alabama, Penn State, and Texas A&M. The date of his announcement is particularly significant, mirroring last year when Dakorien Moore committed to Oregon during a fireworks show that captured widespread attention.
In other sports news, the Oregon softball team delivered a powerful performance against Notre Dame, winning 10-1. Despite Notre Dame’s rich football legacy, Oregon showcased their dominance in softball, initiating the game with five runs and concluding it in five innings. Emma Cox led the charge with a three-run homer, contributing significantly to the Ducks’ 11-hit onslaught. Aryanna Shaw also stood out, going 3-for-3 at the plate.
With an impressive season record of 45-5 and standing atop the Big Ten, Oregon prepares to host Michigan State for a three-game series at Jane Sanders Stadium, where they aim to continue their winning streak.
