Hawai’i Baseball Secures Impressive 5-0 Win Over No. 7 Oregon State in Sold-Out Showdown
HONOLULU – In a thrilling display of skill and teamwork, the Hawai’i baseball team triumphed over No. 7 Oregon State with a commanding 5-0 victory at a sold-out Les Murakami Stadium on Sunday. The combined effort of pitchers Cooper Walls, Liam O’Brien, and Isaiah Magdaleno resulted in a stellar three-hit shutout, marking a significant achievement for the Rainbow Warriors.
Walls set the tone with five scoreless innings, striking out five batters while allowing just two hits. O’Brien maintained the momentum with three hitless innings, and Magdaleno closed out the game, further ensuring the Beavers’ struggles at the plate.
This victory marks the third win against a ranked opponent for UH this season—tying the program’s best since 2014—and represents their first top-10 win since defeating No. 2 Vanderbilt in February 2020. The Rainbow Warriors have now won 13 of their last 14 Sunday home games, outscoring opponents 116-34 during this impressive stretch.
The scoring began early with Matthew Miura’s leadoff double, followed by a sacrifice fly from Ben Zeigler-Namoa to put Hawai’i up 1-0. Konnor Palmeira extended the lead with a solo home run in the third inning, while Miura’s two-run single in the fourth pushed the score to 4-0. Jared Quandt capped the scoring with a run-scoring single in the fifth.
Miura, along with Shunsuke Sakaino and Kamana Nahaku, each contributed two hits to the offensive effort. This sellout crowd of 4,406 marked the third consecutive full house of the series against Oregon State, with a weekend total of 13,529—the highest since 1995.
The series concludes Monday at 6:35 p.m., with tickets starting at just $5 for upper level seats, promising another exciting game for fans.
