Trump’s Absence in Oregon Voters’ Pamphlet Sparks Attention
PORTLAND, Ore. — The upcoming November election in Oregon is generating buzz as voters receive their pamphlets, which detail candidates for various offices, including the presidential race. Notably, former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, is listed but without a campaign statement.
While candidates such as Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris and Pacific Green Party candidate Jill Stein have statements included in the pamphlet, Trump’s entry appears on page 26, marked with an asterisk. The asterisk indicates, “Candidate chose not to submit a voters’ pamphlet statement.”
The Oregon Secretary of State took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to clarify the situation, asserting that the absence of Trump’s statement was a decision by his campaign, not an oversight by election officials. "Trump/Vance will still be on your ballot," the post emphasized.
In agreement, the Oregon Republican Party confirmed that Trump’s decision not to submit a statement was made earlier this year. They reassured supporters that Trump would still appear on ballots alongside other Republican candidates.
Additionally, Trump’s absence isn’t an isolated incident; other candidates, including We The People’s vice presidential candidate Nicole Shanahan and Libertarian Mike ter Maat, also lack statements in the pamphlet.
This marks the second instance of Trump’s campaign opting out of providing a statement, having also skipped the voters’ pamphlet during the primary election in May.
As the election approaches, Oregon voters are reminded that the registration deadline is Oct. 15, with ballots set to be mailed out beginning Oct. 16. The deadline for ballot submission is 8 p.m. on Nov. 5, Election Day.
