Baseball Falls Short in Final Game Against No. 10 Oregon State

Hawai’i Rainbow Warriors Fall to No. 10 Oregon State in Series Finale

HONOLULU, HI – The Hawai’i Rainbow Warriors baseball team faced a tough outing against No. 10 Oregon State, losing 7-3 on Monday at Les Murakami Stadium. This defeat concluded a four-game series with the Beavers and marked the fourth consecutive sold-out crowd for the Rainbow Warriors.

Oregon State took an early lead, scoring two runs in the sixth inning. Following a dropped third strike that extended the inning, a wild pitch advanced a runner, setting up Carson McEntire for an RBI double that broke the scoreless tie. The Beavers added another run shortly after with a single.

In the seventh, OSU’s Wilson Weber hit a massive solo home run, bringing the score to 3-0. Although Hawai’i managed to respond with a run in the bottom of the seventh, thanks to a pinch-hit single from Jack Salmon, it was not enough to deter Oregon State.

The Beavers exploded in the eighth inning, scoring four runs, including two home runs, to increase their lead to 7-1. Hawai’i put together a rally in the eighth, loading the bases with no outs and scoring two runs, but left two runners stranded.

Cory Ronan led the pitching effort for Hawai’i, delivering three shutout innings with five strikeouts. Max Jones supported with 1.1 innings of shutout pitching, showcasing a commendable performance from the mound despite the score.

The announced attendance of 4,451 marked the tenth sellout for the season, the highest for Hawai’i baseball since 1994, with a weekend attendance total of 17,980.

The Rainbow Warriors will look to regroup as they head into a crucial road series against Cal State Fullerton, commencing Friday at 3:30 P.M. HT.
