In a whirlwind of recruiting developments, the Oregon Ducks are on track to secure a commitment from 5-star quarterback Ryder Lyons from Folsom, California. Just an hour after losing a recruitment battle to Georgia for Jared Curtis, Oregon received a prediction, known in recruiting circles as a "Fong Bomb," that Lyons would be heading to Eugene. Currently ranked as the No. 3 overall prospect and the No. 2 quarterback in the nation by Rivals, Lyons stands out behind only the top-rated offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell and Tennessee’s quarterback commitment Faizon Brandon.
Lyons, who excels in both basketball and football, led his high school team to a state championship in 2023 and a Northern California Regional Championship in 2024. During his junior year, he threw for an impressive 3,011 yards and 46 touchdowns, along with rushing for 585 yards and 14 touchdowns.
