Nationwide Sting Nets 205 Arrests of Sex Offenders, Including Oregon Cases

Operation Restore Justice Leads to Child Exploitation Arrests in Oregon

PORTLAND, Ore. — In a significant national effort dubbed Operation Restore Justice, the FBI has arrested 205 suspected child sex abuse offenders across the United States, including three in Oregon. This operation, executed over five days and involving all 55 FBI field offices and various federal organizations, resulted in the rescue of 115 children from exploitation.

In Oregon, federal authorities charged three individuals with serious child exploitation crimes. Robert Andrew Arias, a 54-year-old Salem resident, was arrested for distributing, receiving, and possessing child pornography. He made his first court appearance on April 28, with a jury trial scheduled for July 1.

Berret J. Brown, a 44-year-old from Vida, faces charges of enticing minors and using a child to produce explicit material. Allegedly, between July and August 2024, he contacted children via Snapchat and Roblox to solicit sexually explicit videos. Brown appeared in federal court on April 30 and is set for a jury trial beginning August 5.

Michael Joseph Cambalik, a 35-year-old from Beaverton, has been charged with sexually exploiting a minor and coercing explicit material. In December, Cambalik reportedly posed as a female minor in the online game "Call of Duty" to manipulate a 9-year-old into sending explicit photos. His first federal court appearance was on April 30, with an arraignment scheduled for May 29.

“This operation underscores our commitment to seeking justice for children victimized by online predators,” stated William M. Narus, Acting U.S. Attorney for Oregon. He emphasized the necessity of vigilance against individuals exploiting digital platforms to prey on young victims.

The public is encouraged to report suspected child exploitation through the FBI’s tipline at 1-800-CALL-FBI (225-5324) or tips.fbi.gov.
