Ohio State Buckeyes 5-Star Sean Stewart Chooses Oregon Ducks After Transferring

Oregon Ducks Men’s Basketball Welcomes Ohio State Transfer Sean Stewart

Eugene, OR – The Oregon Ducks men’s basketball team has made a significant addition this offseason by securing the commitment of Sean Stewart, a forward who recently transferred from Ohio State. Reports from On3’s Joe Tipton confirmed Stewart’s decision on Wednesday, highlighting his potential as a former five-star recruit and McDonald’s All-American.

Stewart, who began his collegiate career at Duke before moving to Ohio State, played all 30 games for the Buckeyes last season, averaging 5.7 points and 5.8 rebounds. His most notable performance came against Oregon in January, where he scored a season-high 14 points, showcasing his talent. With this transfer, Stewart aims to revitalize his college career in Eugene after averaging just 4.1 points and 4.4 rebounds over his two seasons at the Division I level.

Oregon head coach Dana Altman is optimistic about Stewart’s potential impact and has already welcomed three other transfer commits this offseason: Devon Pryor from Texas, TK Simpkins from Elon, and Miles Goodman from Penn State. With these additions and the return of key players like Jackson Shelstad and Kwame Evans Jr., the Ducks are working to finalize a competitive roster for the upcoming season.

Reflecting on the previous season, Altman expressed his appreciation for the dynamics within the team, acknowledging both the ups and downs while emphasizing the importance of player happiness. “I hope our guys can be happy at the University of Oregon, as that’s essential for success in any relationship,” he stated.

As the Ducks prepare for the 2025 season, the addition of Stewart signals their commitment to strengthening the team and cultivating a positive environment for player development.
