In Memoriam: Robert K. Erickson (June 6, 1935 – April 14, 2025)
HILLSBORO, OR — Robert K. Erickson, a respected dentist and beloved family man, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, at the age of 89. Born in Portland during the Great Depression and raised in Warren, Oregon, Robert was a second-generation American with roots tracing back to Northern Europe. He was shaped by a hardworking family, with his father, Walter, as an entrepreneur and his mother, Marjorie, a dedicated teacher.
An exceptional student, Robert pursued higher education, attending Oregon State University before earning his D.M.D. from Oregon Health Sciences University. He practiced dentistry for over 30 years in Hillsboro until retiring at 60. Following his retirement, Robert shifted his focus to managing his family’s timber business and enjoying life with his wife, Elaine. The couple shared a passion for travel and cherished time at their summer home in Sunriver, Oregon.
A nature lover, Robert enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, and exploring art and music. He was a dedicated father, raising four children as a single parent before marrying Elaine. His children have forged successful paths: Amy served in the Marine Corps, Lisa became a teacher, Anne specialized in occupational therapy, and Neal works in retirement income strategy.
Known for his open-mindedness and forgiving nature, Robert maintained close relationships with friends and family. Despite battling dementia in his later years, he never forgot his loved ones. His passing marks the end of a remarkable life characterized by love, kindness, and a commitment to family and community. Robert K. Erickson will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
