Celebrate State Parks Day: Enjoy Free Entry to Oregon’s Stunning Parks on June 7, 2025
Oregon State Parks are set to offer a unique opportunity for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts: entry will be completely free on State Parks Day, scheduled for June 7, 2025. Organized by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, this annual tradition, held on the first Saturday of June, aims to thank Oregonians for their continued support of the state’s natural spaces.
On this special day, visitors can access 25 parks that usually charge $10 for parking without any fees. Additionally, all camping fees will be waived for tent, RV, and horse campsites, allowing families and friends to enjoy a night under the stars without the usual costs. However, those wishing to stay in cabins or yurts, or to rent picnic shelters, will still incur standard fees.
While many of the popular campgrounds are already booked for one of the most beautiful weekends of spring, adventurous campers might find spots at less frequented parks or through last-minute cancellations thanks to the new same-day online reservation system.
To further enhance the experience, several parks will host free events, including the Festival of the Land at The Cove Palisades, a star party at L.L. Stub Stewart, and a scavenger hunt at Harris Beach. A detailed list of events can be found on the Oregon State Parks events calendar.
Since its inception in 1998, State Parks Day has served as a celebration of the state’s natural beauty and a gesture of gratitude to the public. It is one of two occasions each year when state parks waive parking fees, with the other occurring on Green Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.
