Oregon Ducks Clinch Women’s College World Series Berth with Dominant 13-1 Victory Over Liberty

EUGENE, Ore. — The Oregon Ducks showcased a commanding performance on Saturday, overwhelming the Liberty Flames with a decisive 13-1 victory in the Eugene Super Regional. With this win, the 16th-seeded Ducks secured their place in the Women’s College World Series (WCWS) for the seventh time in the school’s history and their first appearance since 2018.

Pitcher Lyndsey Grein led the charge, recording an impressive 10 strikeouts and allowing only three hits throughout the contest. Remarkably, Grein retired 21 consecutive batters, boosting her season record to 29-2. The Ducks’ offense was relentless, sending 11 batters to the plate and scoring seven runs in a pivotal inning to break the game wide open.

Emma Cox’s three-run homer in the top of the fifth extended Oregon’s lead to 6-1. The powerful home run followed a series of strategic plays, including a single and a stolen base by Paige Sinicki. Earlier in the match, Sinicki had tied the game with a home run in the second inning, and Kai Luschar further contributed with a run-scoring grounder in the third.

Liberty’s only score came in the first inning when Savannah Woodard hit her ninth home run of the season, briefly giving the Flames a lead. However, Oregon quickly regained control and never looked back.

With this victory, Liberty made history as the seventh NCAA Super Regional participant from Conference USA and the first since UAB in 2013. The Ducks now look forward to their next challenge as they prepare for the upcoming Women’s College World Series.
