Ellie Garcia Honored with Academic All-District Team Recognition
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Ellie Garcia, a standout athlete from Oregon State University, has been named to the prestigious Academic All-District Team, as revealed by the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday. This accolade recognizes student-athletes who excel academically while also making significant contributions on the field.
To qualify for the Academic All-District distinction, student-athletes must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher, demonstrate sophomore academic standing, and participate in at least 90 percent of their team’s games or start in 66 percent. Pitchers like Garcia must additionally have made a minimum of 17 game appearances or thrown at least 35 innings.
This marks Garcia’s second notable academic achievement this offseason, following her selection to the West Coast Conference (WCC) All-Academic Team. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English and also earned a place on the WCC’s second team for her on-field performance.
After completing her collegiate career with the Beavers, Garcia transitioned to professional play, joining Cangrejeras de Santurce in Puerto Rico. In 2025, she emerged as a leading pitcher in her conference, accumulating 94 strikeouts and boasting nine games with five or more strikeouts. Garcia also recorded a career-high ten strikeouts in a decisive series win against Pacific during her final road series.
