Police Seek Public Assistance in Game Store Burglary
Oregon City, Ore. — The Oregon City Police Department is appealing to the community for help in identifying a suspect who committed a burglary at Geeks & Games, resulting in the theft of over $1,000 worth of game cards, including unreleased Pokémon cards.
The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on May 24 when responders were dispatched to the game store located at 1656 Beavercreek Road. Authorities reported that the suspect "forcibly made entry" into the building, stealing a variety of valuable gaming items, notably the sought-after Pokémon Destined Rivals cards, which were set to launch in just two days.
In light of the theft, Geeks & Games announced the cancellation of its much-anticipated pre-release event, lamenting the impact of the loss on their small family-operated business. “This loss is devastating,” the store expressed on social media.
Police have released photographs of the burglar, who was seen dressed in all black with a face mask. The suspect is described as having a heavier build and standing between 6 feet and 6 feet, 2 inches tall. In addition to the Pokémon cards, the man also stole Digimon game cards, including "Hero of Hope" and "Dragon of Courage," as well as various Pokémon decks, such as "Prismatic Evolutions."
Authorities suspect that the suspect may attempt to sell the stolen items at another gaming store. The police are urging anyone with information related to this burglary to contact the Oregon City Police Tip Line at 503-905-0505 and reference case number 25-010791.
The community’s cooperation is crucial in helping bring the thief to justice and safeguarding local businesses.
