Oregon Ducks Athletic Director Rob Mullens Secures Three-Year Contract Extension
Eugene, OR – The University of Oregon has officially extended the contract of Athletic Director Rob Mullens for an additional three years, ensuring his leadership through the 2033 school year. This extension, approved by the board of trustees, reflects Mullens’ successful tenure over the past 15 years, which many consider the most prosperous period in Oregon athletics history.
Under Mullens’ guidance, the Ducks recently excelled in their inaugural Big Ten season, clinching eight conference championships—the highest tally in the conference for the 2024-2025 academic year. Notably, this includes overseeing the women’s indoor track and field team, which secured the national championship, contributing to a total of 18 national titles in his time.
The athletic department thrived with unprecedented success this past year, highlighted by the Ducks’ participation in the College Football Playoff, both men’s and women’s NCAA basketball tournaments, and the softball postseason, an achievement matched only by Texas and Tennessee.
Mullens’ leadership in coaching hires has been pivotal, including the successful recruitment of football coach Dan Lanning, who led the Ducks to an undefeated regular season and a Big Ten championship in 2024. His recent extension increases his base salary from $980,000 to $1,150,000, with additional bonuses, making him the eighth-highest paid athletic director in the Big Ten.
Mullens’ impactful tenure has also included significant facility developments, such as renovations to PK Park and the Hayward Field project. Additionally, he has prioritized student-athlete wellbeing, partnering with the University’s Ballmer Institute for Children’s Behavioral Health to support mental health initiatives.
