The Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center faced a troubling situation as their executive director, Eric Palmer, is facing multiple child pornography charges. The school board meeting that took place addressed the issue after a preliminary hearing for Palmer was continued. Palmer, who has been in his position since 2018, was not present at the meeting and is now listed on the school website.
Officials at GACTC are taking the charges seriously and have appointed Mrs. Nicole Zernick as the interim executive director. They were made aware of the allegations on November 8th, 2024, and took immediate action. Concerned residents commend Mrs. Zernick for her leadership style compared to Palmer’s.
Palmer is currently free on unsecured bail, and a preliminary hearing date has not been set as of Thursday. The community awaits further developments on the case and the future of the GACTC leadership. The school assures the public that they are handling the situation appropriately and with transparency.
