Ace of Base makes a comeback with a docuseries chronicling their rapid ascent to fame in the ’90s

After skyrocketing to fame in the early 1990s with hit songs like “The Sign” and “All That She Wants,” Swedish pop group Ace of Base quickly disappeared from the spotlight. Now, two members, Jenny Berggren and Ulf Ekberg, are breaking their silence in a new docuseries, “Ace of Base: All The She Wants,” which tells the story of their rise to fame and subsequent struggles. Despite their success, the group never sought fame or money, according to Jenny. The docuseries, directed by Jens von Reis, features never-before-seen home video footage and includes interviews with music executive Clive Davis, who played a key role in the band’s American success.

While a reunion of the group seems unlikely given their individual pursuits and Lin Berggren’s deliberate absence from the spotlight, Ekberg remains hopeful. The group has been successful on streaming platforms, with over 11 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Jenny, who has had a successful solo career, released a new single titled “Lion’s Den” and is open to the idea of a reunion. Ekberg, on the other hand, has been pushing for a reunion for the past 10 years and hopes that the docuseries could pave the way for it. Despite not performing together for decades, the possibility of a reunion is still on the table if the right conditions align for the members of Ace of Base.
