Wind Advisory Issued for Klamath Basin and Surrounding Areas
Klamath Basin, OR – A wind advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service effective from Thursday at 2:12 a.m. until Friday at 4 p.m. This advisory covers Klamath Basin, Northern and Eastern Klamath County, Western Lake County, and Central and Eastern Lake County.
According to the weather service, south winds are expected to range between 20 to 30 mph, with gusts potentially reaching up to 50 mph. Although the winds may temporarily decrease on Thursday afternoon, strong gusts are projected to redevelop Thursday evening, peaking at 60 mph into Friday morning.
The advisory highlights the potential for damaging winds that could uproot trees and topple power lines, resulting in possible power outages. Travelers, especially those in high-profile vehicles, may encounter hazardous conditions, and unsecured items outside could be damaged or blown away.
Residents are advised to stay indoors during the windstorm, particularly in lower levels of their homes and away from windows. Additionally, caution should be exercised while driving, with a watchful eye for falling debris and tree limbs.
